‘Boutis’ is a traditional hand stitched, French needlework technique which was traditionally worked with white thread on white fabric. It was used to embellish plain cotton with intricatly 'raised' patterns to created elegant textiles. (Coloured thread can be used too which is shown in the samples).
This set of instructions will take you through what you need to try the technique yourself, but all you need to know is how to do a simple running stitch and back stitch. Then turn your piece into a small pin cushion or lavender pillow. (Two floral templates are included).
The finished cushion size is approximately 5.5" by 5.5".
This is available as either a digital pattern to be emailed to your email address (within 24 hours), or as a printed pattern to be posted.
